A Study on the Indoor Air Pollution Quality of Specific Types of Industry
Shin Eun-Sang

Hwang Kyung-Chul
Abstract
Based on the results of indoor air quality tests in specific types of industries that use office equipments such as photocopiers, the conclusions are as follows. The density of CO detected in the air of the test group industries is between 1.06-1.36ppm, which is distinctively lower than the standard indoor air density, 10ppm. It says that the density of CO founded in the test groups causes no health problem to workers in those industries. The density of fine particles in most industries exceeds the standard indoor air quality, which is affected by use of ventilation facilities. The air density of industries unventilated is 1.5 times higher than those that are ventilated. The ozone level in industries which use digital photocopiers utilizing laser scanning apparatus has little effect on the ozone level inside the building. However, analog photocopiers using ozone filter raise the ozone level 10 times higher than the former. According to the results, it is recommended to use digital photocopiers. According to survey, most workers using photocopiers complain they have health problems due to exposure to indoor air pollutants. 90 percent of them point out an organic adhesive agent as the most serious cause of indoor air pollution. It implies the necessity of measurement and appropriate treatment of air pollution.
